A new campaign has been launched by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup later this year in India.

Along with the campaign launch, a movie starring Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, well-known cricketers JP Duminy, Shubman Gill, Dinesh Karthik, current World Cup victor Eoin Morgan, Muttiah Muralitharan, Jonty Rhodes, and Jemimah Rodrigues was released, which highlights many memorable moments in the Men’s Cricket World Cup’s history.

The campaign shows the range of real emotions felt by players and fans together over the course of One Day. The film connects the nine ‘Navarasa’ emotions – anguish, bravery, glory, joy, passion, power, pride, respect, and wonder – and looks at how one day is all it takes to ride this emotional rollercoaster.

Geoff Allardice, the CEO of the International Cricket Council, was delighted to launch the campaign and is looking forward to the World Cup’s start on October 5 in Ahmedabad.

“This campaign is a true celebration of One Day International cricket and builds a sense of anticipation of what we can expect when the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 returns to India. The emotions, or Navarasa, are felt by fans and players alike during One Day and this campaign brings to life that shared experience,” Allardice said.

Allardice’s thoughts were shared by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

“The ODI format maintains an unequaled relevance with its ability to offer exhilarating moments, heated clashes, and unpredictable outcomes that will certainly fascinate fans worldwide. As we begin this journey, we are thrilled to see the Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign commence and generate genuine excitement for the tournament around the globe,” he said.

“We are absolutely committed to creating a world-class event that will see the birth of a new generation of heroes, giving fans unique experiences, and we feel the campaign delivers this. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India would be a celebration of cricketing prowess, cultural diversity, and the unifying spirit of the game, he added.
