Indian Police Celebrated For Killing The Rapists Of A Woman Veterinarian!

India is knee-deep in brutal rape cases mainly involving women as the victims. The country has been suffering from this epidemic for long. So far, nothing tangible has been obtained in terms of women’s safety and protection. Recently, another horrific case of gangrape of a young female veterinarian came to light and the details of which are gruesome.

The incident occurred at Shamshabad, Telangana near Hyderabad on the night of November 27. Sources say the accused dumped the body and set it on fire at Chatanpally near Shadnagar, about 50 km from Hyderabad. However, the Indian police served swift justice.

The police gunned down the accused at the same place, Friday morning.

The police took down all the accused men at the same place where they committed the abominable crime. The locals appreciated the police for providing instant justice for once and hailed them as heroes. Before the police decided to execute those rapists, a mass protest broke out near the crime area on November 30.

People chanted slogans about the grave injustice that has occurred. They also gathered outside the police station on the day the accused were arrested; demanding the police to hand over the rapists to them so they can take the matters in their own hands and basically kill them at their own hands. Further, the police had a tough time controlling the crowd and had to bring the magistrate to the police station so the men could be given judicial custody.

The criminals tried to escape and the police were left with no choice than to gun them down.

Although the execution of the rapists brought happiness to many, several were divided on the matter. However, the father of the victim was more than happy to finally find justice. Although this will not revive his daughter, he was thankful for the police and the government. He said, “We watched on TV that they were killed in an encounter. We are very happy. Even people are happy. I thank the Telangana government and police for the encounter. I thank everyone who stood by us”

The neighbor of the veterinarian even distributed sweets among the police officers.

This goes to show how rare it is in India for rapists to actually be served with due punishment. The Indian women at large are aware of the fact that there are no laws or a sense of security that will lower their chances of being raped. The rape culture grossly prevails within the society, so much so that rape videos are sold cheaper than lentils in India.

Hence, when the police killed all four of the accused during an encounter, it brought a ray of hope within many. Since this should have been the route from the beginning. In addition, if instant-death was the punishment then there would have been a decrease within the rape cases in India. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Even though this action has opened up a debate as many are not in the favor of extra-judicial killings.
