But what they don’t know is that it’s probably only a one-way ticket, and they don’t know how to get back to Earth. They’ll have to figure it out on their way to Earth. When they use a time-warping vortex to get to the other side of the galaxy, things get out of hand. It looks like they’ll never be able to get back home, at least not in time. Can Cooper and his group do it?

It’s clear that Christopher Nolan’s biggest and most complex project is Interstellar. Nolan had a hard job ahead of him because he had to combine two different parts of a story into one cohesive whole. His skilled hands, on the other hand, keep this visual show from falling apart. The fact that romance and science fiction come together so strongly in Interstellar shows how well everyone worked on it. You should watch this movie right away if you haven’t already.

2. The Martian (2015):

When scientists leave Mars, they leave Mark Watney (Matt Damon), who is thought to be dead after a dangerous storm. The visitor is stuck on a dangerous world with very few supplies. Back on Earth, NASA and a group of scientists from around the world are working hard to bring him home, while his crewmates are coming up with their own daring plan for a rescue flight.

William Cage is a major who has never even held a gun before he is thrown into a war between aliens and humans and has to tip the scales in favor of the humans by himself. Only the time loop, which won’t let him die for good, is on his side. His lack of experience kills him in painful ways more times than he can remember, but each time he comes back stronger and smarter, one step closer to beating the aliens and killing them all.

This Tom Cruise movie keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end, even though it uses a lot of sci-fi tropes and repeats some scenes and lines of conversation a lot.

There is some love story, but luckily it never gets in the way of the action. These two parts feel like two different parts of the movie, for better or worse.

Banks and her team are in a race against time to find a way to talk to the alien visitors while the world is on the verge of war. She takes a risk that could put her life and maybe even the lives of all people on Earth at risk in order to solve the puzzle.

7. Event Horizon (1997):

Do you want some scary space horror? Meet Paul W. S. Anderson, who directed Event Horizon, a scary movie with scares that are so well done that they’re hard to watch. We probably won’t find out what happens when you mess with a black hole in this life, but Event Horizon does a great job of showing us how bad things can get.

“Space is full of wonders, but are we ready to pay the cost of exploring everything?” is something that Event Horizon asks over and over again. I am sure that by the end of the movie, you will have answered “no,” unless you like pain.

As the space team goes deeper into the unknown, they have to deal with alien creatures that hit them hard and hypnotize them. It gets scarier just when you think you’ve made sure of all of it. After seeing a movie, I’ve never felt so attacked. But Event Horizon backed me into a corner with its unwavering cruelty. As you try to catch your breath, you’ll be impressed by how well-thought-out and complex the story is.

Don’t worry about the bad reviews. It only strengthens the point that most of the people in the crowd are not smart. Unfortunately, not many people enjoy sad movies these days, so you’ll never see another one like this. Enjoy the memories before they stop being interesting.

8. Contact (1997):

Dr. Ellie Arroway (Jodie Foster), who is based on the book by Carl Sagan and directed by Zemeckis, is in a race to figure out what a possible message from the Vega star system means. Once proof of first contact with an alien intelligence is found, Arroway has to deal with National Security Advisor Kitz (James Woods), who is very strict, and religious extremists who want to keep the effects of such an event under control. Someone finds a very important message in the signal. Will Arroway be the one to answer it?

9. Moon (2009):

Sam Rockwell plays a man who is stationed on the Moon and is lonely. He sends useful things back to Earth and is counting down the days until he can see his family again. He stays in touch with everyone on Earth through the one-way contact system to keep them up to date on his work and deal with his depression and loneliness.
Not long before the end of his time, though, he realizes how sneaky his world is. Is he really what he says he is?

This Rockwell starrer was made on a very small budget. It starts out slowly but turns into a nightmare in the second half. I really like how Sam Rockwell takes the whole tight picture on his shoulders. As a man who is delusional and having trouble telling the difference between dreams and reality, he is appealing and believable.

That’s not the point of every sci-fi adventure, and this movie, directed by Duncan Jones, does a great job of making that point. There are no aliens coming to Earth or Earth being saved. Just mind-bending action that will hook you right away.

10. Gravity (2013):

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a medical engineer who is on her first trip on the space shuttle. Veteran pilot Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney), who is in charge of her, is on his last flight before retiring. But then something bad happens during their normal space walk: the shuttle breaks down, leaving Ryan and Matt stuck in space with no way to get back to Earth and no chance of being saved. They know that going deeper into space might be the only way to get home as their fear turns to terror.
