UP Men’s Gender Reassignment Surgery During Sleep in Muzaffarnagar, UP

The life of 20-year-old Indian Muslim Mujahid was dramatically altered in a horrific occurrence when he was duped into having surgery to change his gender. The treatment in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, has provoked protests and indignation. It is said that Omprakash planned the procedure with the help of local doctors.

Mujahid, from Sanjak village, said on June 3, Omprakash told him he had a medical issue needing hospital attention. At Begrajpur Medical College, staff gave him anesthesia and performed the surgery without his consent, changing his gender. Mujahid woke up to find he was now a girl. Omprakash threatened him, saying he would have to live with him, and warned he would harm Mujahid’s family if he refused.

Farmers from the Bharatiya Kisan Union, led by Shyam Pal, protested, demanding action against Omprakash and the doctors. The police have arrested Omprakash and are investigating. Mujahid’s father also demanded compensation for the ordeal.
