Following their declarations of fitness to compete in the Asia Cup, middle-order batsmen KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer returned to the ODI team, improving the 17-man Indian team.

After making his return to the Twenty20 International matches in the present Twenty20 International series against Ireland, Jasprit Bumrah has also been recalled to the One-Day International squad. Before being sidelined with a back disease that kept him out of action for over a year, Bumrah competed in his most recent One-Day International (ODI) match in July of the previous year against England.

Tilak Varma, a young batting prodigy, earned his first-ever call-up to an ODI after making a name for himself in the Twenty20 international series played against the West Indies.

The much-anticipated matchup between India and Pakistan will take place on September 2 in Kandy and will mark the beginning of India’s campaign in the Asia Cup 2023.

If both countries are able to make it into the Super 4s, then Pakistan and India, two of the world’s most bitter rivals, will play one other once again on September 10 in Colombo.

Pakistan will play home to a total of four matches, one of which is a Super 4s match, while Sri Lanka will be the location for the remaining games, including the championship event.

Six teams will compete in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, split into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 4s. The continental event will take place from the 31st of August through the 17th of September.

The archrivals India and Nepal will be in the same group as the hosts Pakistan, while the other group will contain the defending champions Sri Lanka, along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Co-hosts Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will also be in this group.

The One-Day International (ODI) format will be used for the Asia Cup 2023, which will provide the participating Asian countries with an opportunity to strengthen their preparations for the forthcoming ICC Men’s World Cup.
