 Famous Bollywood Musician Wajid Khan Dies At The Age Of 42!

One of India’s most famous composers, Wajid Khan, who is known for composing music with his brother Sajid,  passed away on Monday 1st June 2020 at a Mumbai hospital. He was 42. Reports of Wajid Khan death news surfaced on social media after his friend and singer, Sonu Nigam shared the news of his passing away.

Wajid Khan died due to COVID-19

It is reported that Wajid Khan death reason is COVID-19. Since the last few days, he was under critical care. The musician was hospitalized at Surana Hospital, Mumbai where his condition deteriorated. Apart from that, Wajid also had a brief history of underlying medical conditions that kept him in and out of hospitals in the past year.

Speaking to an agency, Fellow singer and composer Salim Merchant revealed that Wajid was put on ventilator support last week after a kidney infection got worse. He added that Wajid also underwent a kidney transplant a few years back.

Salim stated: “He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection… He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical.”

The duo of Sajid-Wajid had composed music for various superhit films of Salman Khan. They made their debut in the 1998 Salman superhit film “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya”. They had composed one song in that film, “Teri jawani badi mast mast hai”. The film which made Sajid-Wajid famous was again a Salman Khan superhit Dabangg (2010). Apart from that, the duo has given music for other films such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Heropanti (2014) among others.

Celebrities share their grief on Wajid’s death

Apart from Sonu Nigam and Salim Merchant, other fellow Bollywood celebrities have also taken to the internet to express grief over Wajid Khan’s death news.

Famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra wrote on Twitter, “Terrible news. The one thing I will always remember is Wajid bhai’s laugh. Always smiling. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and everyone grieving. Rest in peace my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers. @wajidkhan7.”

Varun Dhawan shared a picture of his filmmaker-father David Dhawan with Khan. Varun said that Wajid was close to the family.

Famous singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan stated he was unable to come to terms with the news of Wajid’s untimely death.

Vishal Dadlani in his Instagram post also mentioned how sad he was on Wajid Khan death. On Wajid Khan’s death news, Dadlani reassured his brother Sajid that he is not alone.
