AR Rahman and Wife Saira Banu Announce Separation After 29 Years of Marriage
Famous music composer AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, have decided to part ways after 29 years of marriage. This decision was shared by Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, in an official statement.
According to the statement, Mrs. Saira has made the tough choice to separate from Mr. AR Rahman after years of emotional challenges in their relationship. The couple deeply respects each other but feels the difficulties between them have become too big to resolve. Saira shared that this decision was made with great pain and sadness. She has asked for privacy and understanding from the public as she deals with this tough time in her life.

AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married in 1995 in an arranged marriage. Rahman had previously mentioned in an interview that his mother found Saira for him because he was too busy with work to look for a bride himself. He wanted a “simple” and supportive partner who could inspire him and allow him to focus on his music.
The couple has three children: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
On the work front, AR Rahman continues to stay busy. His most recent project was Raayan, a film directed by Dhanush. He is also working on several upcoming films, including Chhaava, Thug Life, and Gandhi Talks.
